Have you ever wondered how solar power actually works? I think it’s a really interesting topic, although I’m quite new to it and really don’t know that much. Like, I understand how wind and water power works. That makes perfect sense to me. Movement generates energy, which is used to create electricity. Solar power, however, and I suppose by extension, coal and nuclear, don’t really seem logical in my mind. The sun shines down on the Earth and somehow the light is magically turned into electricity? Seems a little far fetched.

Then I have other questions, too, such as how much power does a 100kw solar system produce? I’d also like to know what happens to any excess electricity created by a solar system. Does it get stored somewhere? I don’t really know. I wish I knew someone who could explain it all to me because I’m really curious about it all.

I know, it’s not really my place to wonder about these things, especially when my job is simply to organise marathons. I don’t even need electricity to do that. And yet here I am wondering if there’s any such thing as commercial battery storage across Melbourne! That’s why I haven’t reached out to any professionals in the energy field. I don’t want to waste their time. It would be different if I had an actual reason to ask, like if I was writing a book comparing all the different energy types.

Hey, now there’s an idea. Maybe I’ll write it like a coffee table book sort of thing. A nonfiction compendium about energy and all its sources. I think that could be really interesting. I’d definitely read it. Even if I can’t sell the thing, it gives me an excuse to learn more about solar power. Then I’ll be able to tell you, my faithful readers, all about it! Exciting times ahead. Alright, time to go start my book. Wish me luck!
