When I first arrived at the share house in Canberra, I was a mix of excitement and nervousness. I had never lived away from my parents before, and now I was moving to a new city to study Botany at university. As I walked up to the front door, my bright pink hair bouncing with each step, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of adventure.

Upon meeting my flatmates, Jodi and John, I was relieved to find them friendly and welcoming. Jodi had a warm smile, while John had a laid-back demeanour that put me at ease. They seemed like a lovely couple, and I was looking forward to getting to know them better.

However, as we settled into the house and started unpacking our things, I couldn’t help but notice how warm it was inside. I had heard that Canberra’s summer months could be quite hot, but I never expected it to be this toasty inside the house. I mentioned the heat to Jodi and John, and that’s when they informed me that the house didn’t have working air conditioning.

Feeling determined to find a solution, I began researching cooling options for our house. That’s when I stumbled upon a company which offered a range of air conditioning and heating services in Canberra. I was particularly intrigued by their air con service, as it seemed like an efficient way to keep the entire house comfortable.

However, when I excitedly shared my findings with Jodi and John, I could sense some tension between us. They were hesitant about the idea, expressing concerns over the cost of fixing our air con system. I understood their desire to save money, but I also believed that investing in our comfort was important.

Despite the initial resistance, I continued to make my case, emphasising the long-term benefits and cost-effectiveness of air conditioner repairs. Canberra is extremely warm in the summer months, and sweating through the night is no way to live. Eventually, they agreed to at least consider my suggestion and give the technicians a call for a consultation.

As I lay in bed that night, I couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy about the disagreement with my flatmates. While I was proud of myself for standing up for what I believed in, I also worried that this conflict might strain our relationship in the future. Regardless, I remained hopeful that we could find a way to resolve our differences and work together to make our house a welcoming home.
