Welcome back to my video game review blog! Today, we’re going to be talking about Smash Fox, and why it is my least favourite video game of all time. Isn’t that fun? I’m sure nobody will send me hate mail for putting such a controversial take on the internet. Well, let’s not waste any time here, because I have a lot to complain about.

To be perfectly honest, I used to love Smash Fox when I was a kid. I’d play it for hours and hours, but eventually, I’d get up to the dreaded sewer levels. Smash has to fight his way through almost every blocked sewer Melbourne has to offer, in order to pursue the evil Dr Big Yellow Head. These levels were brutal beyond human understanding. I’ve seen videos of people completing these levels, but I’m pretty sure they are done by bots because no matter how hard I try, I have never been able to do even the first one. I don’t understand why people are so in love with this game if it isn’t even possible to complete. I’ve had people tell me in the past that I just must not be very good at video games, but that is completely false. When I ask them how to get past the haunted drain cameras in the level, they fail to give me an answer, so I feel justified in having this opinion.

I actually think that the levels where you have to do drain cleaning in the Melbourne area, are a brilliant idea, but the execution is just terrible. I don’t play video games for it to be extremely hard. I think the worst part is that the game doesn’t have a difficulty setting, so I’ll never be able to beat it. Why don’t developers understand that sometimes you just want to go through a game without actually having to try?

I have to give Smash Fox a retrospective zero stars because I can’t rate a game that I haven’t finished.
