We’re officially halfway through the basketball season. We’re now second on the ladder, one game behind first and multiple games clear of third. We want to finish the season strong and in first place, which means we need our entire team at full strength for the next ten games. Everyone, including myself, seems like they’re in great form and so this shouldn’t be hard to achieve. We just have to keep healthy, play well and keep winning. That’s what every team who wants to be on top of the ladder has to do, and so we will do it.

We’re playing the current top team tonight and if we win we’ll jump them on the ladder by percentage. If they win, we’ll be two games behind which will make it harder to catch up. I’ll keep you updated.

Oh no. I’m reporting back with very bad news. Our second-best player (I’m the best) went down halfway through the game with an injured foot. My heart sank when I saw her face after she fell, mostly because I knew we had no chance of winning without her and secondly because I know how bad it is to have a footy injury. As I was helping to carry her off the court, I was reciting the number of Cheltenham Podiatry, the podiatrist that I visited for the entirety of last year. I told her to make an appointment with the podiatrist first thing in the morning because we need her to be right for the rest of the season.

Hopefully, nothing is too wrong with her foot and she just needs something like custom orthotics to wear whilst she plays. It’s too late to recruit a new player because registration closes at the end of the first round. If we’re without our second-best player (I’m the best), I’m going to have to carry the load even more.
